Space Monkey Mafia: The Theme Camp spent its first year as an official Burning Man theme camp in 2009.

We were placed at Fossil & 4:20, and ran the multi-media dome. We played music during the day and provided a chill space with swamp cooler. By night we showed videos, cartoons, and played more music with visuals provided by the Milkdrop Winamp plug-in.

Of course plans are being made for next year on how to make camp bigger and better, included usability lessons for how people on playa want to consume our media.

Space Monkey Mafia: The Theme Camp @ Apogaea

Space Monkey Mafia: The Theme Camp will be celebrating its first official placement at a festival at Apogaea, Colorado's regional burn, from June 4, 2009 to June 7, 2009.

The camp is ready to be set-up and given a test run as a fully-function theme camp. Last year at Burning Man, we went unofficial for a test run of equipment endurance and performance. We walked away with lots of insite on how electronics behave in enclosed spaces on the playa. With more infastracture created, more multi-media experiences to share, and a plan in place, we're going legit and getting official.

At Apogaea this year we're planning on running the Multi-Media Dome, the First Church of Mary Jane & Wedding Chapel, as well as the Lifeforce Speakeasy. We'll be holding various events through the day and night relating to these three areas.
